Bioethics, Health and Environment: The Public in Policy

28 October - 3 November, 2000.

A series of cross-cultural meetings through Japan

Come and see more of Japan, while enjoying a cross-cultural dialogue on the future topics for the new century. TRT6 will be an informal roundtable of around 60 persons, with focus on discussion, and in English. Tokyo will have simultaneous translation into Japanese, French and English, and in a lecture room at the Maison Franco-Japonaise. Fukui will focus on medical genetics, and offers West Japan hospitality. Expect to see autumn leaves in Japan. For a taste of the depth of papers at previous Tsukuba and Fukui meetings please see the proceedings that are on-line, or talk to a participant from TRT5 held in 1999!

We suggest arrival at Narita airport, as Tsukuba Science City is 60km North East of Tokyo, and 50km from Narita airport. There are direct bus services from Narita airport or Tokyo JR station to Tsukuba Science City. Travel to Fukui from Tokyo will be by train (cost Y10,000 on JR railways - or else consider buying a JR pass to visit Japan). We would like to have your response to all three meetings to have central coordination of these events (there is still space for papers in Tsukuba only).

Coorganizers include: Eubios Ethics Institute, International Association of Law, Ethics & Science (IALES), International Bioethics Seminars in Fukui (IBSF), Asian Bioethics Association, IUBS Bioethics Program, MURS Japan, Philosophy of Science Society of Japan.

Overall organizing committee: Tsuyoshi Awaya, Christian Byk, Norio Fujiki, Ryuichi Ida, Darryl Macer, Hyakudai Sakamoto.
